| The world's largest computer chip maker, Intel Corp.. chose the Merrimack
Court Housing Projects in Lawrence as the site of its newest computer clubhouse. The
$200,000 high-tech clubhouse is just one of 100 workshops Intel plans to create to get
inner-city kids online. Those on hand for the dedication were (clockwise from the
left) Joseph J. Bevilacqua, president of the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce; Leonard
A. Wilson, chairman of First Essex Bancorp. Inc.; Boys Club member Jonathan Cruz
Jr., 13 son of Jonathan Cruz Sr. and Anna Cruz; Charles L. LoPiano, assistant
executive director for the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council Inc.; Jason L. Vega,
13, son of Maria Kidd and stepson of Federico Kidd; Jack Menzie, executive director of the
Lawrence Boys and Girls Club; and Boys Club member Danny Vazquez, 13, son of Luis Vazquez.
All the boys live in Lawrence. |
