IED CORRECTS NEWS COVERAGE
Letter sent by GLCAC IED, Chris Dame , to the Lawrence Eagle Tribune, March 12, 2012
To the Editor:
Thank you for your March 11 news story reporting the many reforms that GLCAC has instituted, and your editorial conclusion that GLCAC is “on the road to recovery.” In the interests of accuracy and fairness to the 295 honest, hard-working employees of GLCAC I must object, however, your use in both the article and editorial of the word “fraud”. Fraud is a legal term. There has been no legal finding of fraud at GLCAC by any government or legal authority. Your article and editorial mislead readers into concluding the exact opposite. Similarly Mr. Eddings statement that a GLCAC employee “was spending half her workday at another job” is incorrect. The federal audit found that the agency failed to correctly attribute half her authorized work at a sister agency helping youth to the correct funding source. She was never “at another job”. I am sure your readers want to know all the facts about GLCAC’s recovery.
