GLCAC Welcomes New COO and Development Director
Executive Director Evelyn Friedman has appointed Rosa Talero as Chief Operating Officer and Tracey Chalifour as the new Director of Development and Planning for the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council Inc. The two new members of senior management add a combined three decades of professional experience in operations and fundraising for non-profit organizations.

Free tax services for low- to moderate-income families and individuals are available from the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council Inc., which is participating in the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Home Heating Fuel Available from GLCAC, Inc.
Applications for home heating assistance are now available from the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council Inc. Families meeting federal and state income guidelines may be eligible for financial assistance in paying part of their winter heating bills and are encouraged to contact GLCAC.

GLCAC Preschoolers Excel in Readiness Testing
LAWRENCE – Preschoolers from the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council’s Child Care Center will enter kindergarten this fall well prepared, according to independent testing of students conducted last spring. The majority of the preschoolers exhibited skills and development expected in children finishing, not starting, kindergarten.

GLCAC Awarded Consumer Protection Grant from Attor
LAWRENCE – The Greater Lawrence Community Action Council Inc. has been awarded a $31,500 grant by the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office to fund a consumer protection program. The grant will benefit GLCAC’s Local Consumer Program which helps mediate disputes between consumers and businesses and provides consumer education programming.

Lawrence Delegation Praise Changes and Progress
The state delegation from Lawrence, including Senator Barry Finegold and Representatives David Torrisi, Marcos Devers and Paul Adams, called a meeting with the interim executive director of the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council (GLCAC) and a number of board members and program directors on Tuesday to discuss the changes and progress made by the organization in the past few months.
