Program OverviewThe GLCAC, Inc. Community Service Center’s mission is to serve the community through referrals, direct intervention, and as an information provider. The Community Service Center is known as the human service ‘Emergency Room’ for the Greater Lawrence area. CSC is on a fast track making changes to qualify all clients and computerize its client database. This will allow quicker collaboration with other GLCAC programs. May Day – May 1, 2012, is the day CSC went public, accepting only clients whose household income is under 125% of the federal government’s poverty standards as required by CSBG funding. To get to this point Program Director Marisa Melendez has been very busy. She has continued to provide client services while working with senior management staff to redesign CSC's program intake and delivery model. She began to educate new clients about revised compliance requirements while designing the new intake format and expanding GLCAC’s database system.
Four new CSC staff have been hired. In three short weeks the new staff has demonstrated its ability to become a high functioning team. Client Services/Intake Specialists Georgina Lightfoot and Queyron Nolberto are excellent with CSC’s clients and play a critical role in implementing the new computerized intake and income verification system.
