The Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Inc. Childcare Center
was recently granted accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young
Children (NAEYC). This prestigious recognition has been achieved by approximately 7%
of the early childhood programs nationwide, some 6,146 programs as of June 1999, serving
566,675 children. Our staff at the Child Care Program are very excited to have
received such recognition from this Nationally recognized organization. This
accreditation affirms our commitment in providing high quality services to children and
families in our care.NAEYC accreditation is a rigorous, voluntary process by which
early childhood programs demonstrate that they meet national standards of excellence.
Programs seeking accreditation undergo an intensive self-study, collecting
information from parents, teachers, administrators, and classroom observations.
Reasearch supports the value of accreditation for children. Children's language and
social skills benefit from a children's success in school as well as in life.
The Greater Lawrence Community Action Action Council, Inc. Childcare Center is located
at 581 Andover Street and serves 253 children ranging in age from 2.9 years to 11 years of
age.
