Executive Director/CEO

As an employee of the GLCAC, Inc. since Decemeber of 1966 and   Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer since May of 1974, I have seen many positive changes in our communities.   Unfortunately, one unchanging factor is the ever increasing poverty of a significant number of Greater Lawrence residents.  Whether caused by economic downturns, separation of families, or aging without resources, the effects are overwhelming for those who find themselves in this grievous situation.  Poverty is a very real fact of life which we cannot ignore.  Poverty can inflict itself on anyone at any time, regardless of race, color, creed, age, or nationality.  Poverty is the worst form of discrimination.

The continuing mission of the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council. Inc. is one of great challenge.  Utilizing funds from federal, state, and local sources, programs are developed and geared to assist the economically disadvantaged so that they may maintain decent standard of living while continuously providing the means to upgrade those standards.  Our programs have impacted the areas of fair housing, nutrition, health care, employment, child care, fuel and food assistance, lead poisoning prevention, consumer education, and elder services.

For 40 years, this agency has met and will continue to meet the challenges of our mission.  We look forward to continuing to assist those in need, to advocate on their behalf, and to be the "voice" of those individuals who cannot articulate their concerns.  Our website will exemplify our commitment to ACTION on behalf of the disadvantaged residents of the Greater Lawrence community and extended areas.
