The Lawrence Teen Council is a group of local high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors elected to represent the interests of Lawrence youth. They provide input to local and state political leaders and others on youth-related issues. The Lawrence Teen Coalition in collaboration with the city of Lawrence, sponsors the Lawrence Teen Council. The Lawrence Teen Coalition provides technical assistance and support to the Lawrence Teen Council. The city of Lawrence, through the Lawrence City Council, hosts the formal meetings of the Lawrence Teen Council in the City Council Chambers and looks upon the Lawrence Teen Council as an advisory group.

The Council has a total of nine elected members. Lawrence High School, the Greater Lawrence Technical School and Central Catholic High School are allocated seats in proportion to the number of their students who are residents of Lawrence. Elected members serve for a period of one year and can be re-elected to their position.
