April is the month for the “Blue Ribbon Campaign” held for Child Abuse awareness.  The Blue Ribbon Campaign is dedicated to bring awareness to surrounding communities about the traumatic effects of child abuse and neglect. 

The Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Inc in partnership with the Exchange Clubs of the Merrimack Valley sponsored the following events:

A silent auction held throughout the Month of April with items displayed at Lawrence City Hall.

bullet

A bake sale and collection booth at Wal-Mart, drawing contest "What is a Family" held at the Rockingham Mall and Lawrence Common, providing a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner for children 10 years old and younger.

A Fund Raiser night at the Grill 93.

bullet

Selling of Blue Ribbon Campaign cards and pins in hopes of bringing awareness to the devastating cycle of Chilld Abuse and Neglect.

Family Support Center staff  at Child Abuse Prevention Day held on April 29, 2002 at the Lawrence Common

The Family Support Center is a weekly home visiting program.   It provides in depth case management services free of charge to parents, who are overwhelmed, stressed and or out of control.  To inquire about the program please call (978) 681-4985 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
